Cabinet of Curiosities

Kimonos

The large blank surfaces of this simple garment ignite veritable fireworks of creativity. On a kimono, opulent patterns and colours often contrast with the simplicity of its cut. Flowers embroidered with golden threads compete with flying cranes and other motifs. The Cabinet of Curiosities holds an exclusive collection of the most beautiful antique kimonos, including numerous splendid wedding kimonos. Being almost too handsome to wear, kimonos reveal their true beauty when hung up on a wall, like paintings, making rooms glow. As space is limited, only a selection of the kimonos is presently on display. Should you be interested in seeing more, I’d be happy to show you further items at the Cabinet or at your own home.
A larger kimono exhibition is being planned.
